Xyzal 5mg tablets contain levocetirizine dihydrochloride, a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms quickly and effectively. Made by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline), Xyzal works by blocking histamine — the chemical your body releases during an allergic reaction — reducing symptoms like sneezing, itching, runny nose, and watery eyes. It is non-drowsy at recommended doses for most people and provides up to 24-hour relief with just one tablet a day.

What it treats

• Seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) — sneezing, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes triggered by pollen
• Perennial allergic rhinitis — year-round allergy symptoms caused by dust mites, pet dander, or mould
• Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) — persistent itchy skin rash with no identified cause
• Allergic skin reactions — itching and swelling associated with allergies

How to use

• Adults and children 6 years and above: one 5mg tablet once daily, preferably in the evening
• Take with or without food, swallowed whole with water
• For perennial allergic rhinitis, your doctor may review after 6 months of continuous use
• For chronic urticaria, treatment duration is guided by how well symptoms respond
• Do not exceed the recommended dose

Important precautions

• May cause drowsiness in some people — avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you
• Avoid alcohol during treatment as it may increase drowsiness
• Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment — dose adjustment may be required
• Not recommended for patients with severe kidney disease or end-stage renal failure

Who should not use it
