Cetroxol 500 (Azithromycin) Tablets

Composition:

Each tablet of Cetroxol contains:

• Azithromycin (as Azithromycin Dihydrate) - 500 mg

Indications:

Cetroxol (Azithromycin) is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria:

• Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis)
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Otitis media (middle ear infections)
• Pharyngitis and tonsillitis
• Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., chlamydia, gonorrhea)

Dosing:

• Adults: The usual dose is 500 mg daily.
• Pediatric Patients: The dose is based on body weight. The recommended dose is 10 mg/kg on the first day, followed by 5 mg/kg once daily for the next 4 days (up to a maximum of 500 mg).
• Renal Impairment: No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with severe renal impairment.

Precautions:

• Allergy: Cetroxol should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide antibiotic.
• Liver Function: Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, as azithromycin is primarily metabolized in the liver.
• Cardiac Conditions: Caution is advised in patients with a history of QT prolongation or those taking medications that may prolong the QT interval.
• Drug Interactions: Azithromycin may interact with other medications, including anticoagulants and certain antiretrovirals. Consult a healthcare provider for potential interactions.
• Pregnancy and Lactation: Use during pregnancy and lactation should be considered only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Storage:

Store at room temperature (15-30°C) in a dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
