Losartan Potassium 50mg Tablets Antila
Dosage : 50mg Standard maintenance dose
Frequency : Once daily With or without food
Drug class : ARB Angiotensin II blocker
Form : Oral tablet Swallow whole
What is it used for?
High blood pressure (hypertension) — the go-to maintenance dose for long-term blood pressure control
Diabetic kidney disease (nephropathy) — slows the progression of kidney damage in type 2 diabetics with high blood pressure
Stroke prevention — reduces the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy (enlarged heart)
Heart failure — sometimes used as an alternative in patients who cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors
Common side effects
Unlike ACE inhibitors (e.g. lisinopril), losartan rarely causes a persistent dry cough — making it a preferred option for patients who experienced this side effect.
Important warnings
Do not use during pregnancy — losartan can cause serious harm or death to an unborn baby.
Avoid use if you are also taking aliskiren (a blood pressure medicine) and have diabetes or kidney disease.
Tell your doctor about all medications — especially NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen), potassium supplements, or diuretics.
Monitor kidney function and potassium levels regularly while on this medication.
