Meprasil-20 (Omeprazole) Capsules

Composition:

Each Meprasil capsule contains:

• Omeprazole: 20 mg

Indications:

Meprasil (Omeprazole) is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): To relieve symptoms of heartburn and acid regurgitation.
• Peptic Ulcer Disease: For the healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: For the management of hypersecretion of gastric acid.
• Prevention of Ulcers: In patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) who are at risk of developing gastric ulcers.

Dosing:

• Adults: The typical dose of Meprasil (Omeprazole) is 20 mg once daily. Depending on the condition being treated, the dose may be adjusted as follows:
• • For GERD: 20 mg to 40 mg once daily for up to 4-8 weeks.
  • For Peptic Ulcer Disease: 20 mg to 40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
  • For Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initial dose of 60 mg once daily, which may be adjusted based on clinical response.
• Pediatric Patients: Dosing in children should be determined by a healthcare provider based on weight and specific condition.
• Administration: Meprasil should be taken before meals, preferably in the morning, and swallowed whole with water.

Precautions:

• Allergy: Use with caution in patients with a known allergy to omeprazole or any of its components.
• Liver Impairment: Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Long-term Use: Prolonged use may increase the risk of gastric cancer; regular monitoring is advised.
• Bone Health: Long-term use may be associated with an increased risk of fractures; consider calcium and vitamin D supplementation.
• Drug Interactions: Omeprazole may interact with certain medications (e.g., clopidogrel, warfarin, and certain antifungals). Consult a healthcare provider for potential interactions.
