Bendrofluazide is a thiazide diuretic — commonly called a water tablet — that helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water from the body through urine. How does bendrofluazide work?

Bendrofluazide acts on the kidneys, blocking the reabsorption of sodium and chloride (salt) back into the bloodstream. When excess salt is excreted in urine, water follows — reducing the total volume of fluid in your blood vessels. Less fluid means less pressure on artery walls, which lowers blood pressure. In oedema, this mechanism relieves the uncomfortable build-up of fluid in tissues such as the ankles, legs, and lungs.

What is bendrofluazide used for?

✕Pregnant or breastfeeding women — use only if clearly necessary under close medical supervision
