Nebilong-H (Nebivolol 5mg+ Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg) Tablets
What is Nebilong-H? Nebilong-H is a prescription fixed-dose combination tablet containing Nebivolol 5 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. It is prescribed for adults with high blood pressure (hypertension) whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by either medicine alone. By combining two proven, complementary medicines into a single once-daily tablet, Nebilong-H simplifies treatment and improves long-term adherence.
How does Nebilong-H work? Nebilong-H controls blood pressure through two distinct and complementary mechanisms working simultaneously.
Who is Nebilong-H prescribed for? Nebilong-H is indicated for adult patients with essential hypertension who require combination therapy. It is especially useful for patients who are already on Nebivolol or Hydrochlorothiazide separately and need better control, or those starting combination therapy to simplify their regimen. Nebivolol's cardiac-protective properties also make this combination a preferred choice for hypertensive patients who have mild-to-moderate heart failure or a high resting heart rate.
How to take Nebilong-H Take one tablet by mouth once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food. It is best taken in the morning to align with the body's natural blood pressure rhythm and to minimise sleep disturbance from the mild diuretic effect. Never stop taking Nebilong-H abruptly — always consult your doctor before discontinuing, as sudden withdrawal of beta-blockers can cause a rapid rebound in blood pressure or trigger chest pain (angina).
Common side effects Nebilong-H is generally well-tolerated. Side effects that may occur include a slower-than-normal heart rate (bradycardia), fatigue, dizziness, headache, cold hands or feet, nausea, and increased urination in the first few days of treatment. The Hydrochlorothiazide component can occasionally lower potassium levels — your doctor may advise periodic blood tests to monitor this. Report any unusually slow pulse, swelling, shortness of breath, or muscle weakness to your doctor promptly.
Who should not take Nebilong-H? Nebilong-H is contraindicated in patients with severely slow heart rate (bradycardia), second or third-degree heart block, decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and anuria (complete absence of urine output). It requires careful use in patients with diabetes (Nebivolol may mask early signs of low blood sugar), peripheral artery disease, gout, kidney impairment, or liver disease. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor of all other medicines you take, particularly calcium channel blockers, antidiabetics, NSAIDs, and lithium.
