Amlodipine 10mg is a once-daily tablet used to manage high blood pressure and angina (chest pain). By relaxing and widening blood vessels, it makes it easier for your heart to pump blood — helping to lower your blood pressure, reduce chest pain, and cut your risk of heart attack and stroke over time.

What is amlodipine 10mg used for?

High blood pressure (hypertension)

Relaxes blood vessels so your heart doesn't have to work as hard, reducing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage.

Angina (chest pain)

Reduces the frequency and severity of angina episodes by improving blood supply to the heart muscle.

Coronary artery disease (CAD)

Used in patients with confirmed coronary artery disease to reduce the risk of hospitalisation and procedures due to angina.

How does it work?

Amlodipine belongs to a class of medicines called calcium channel blockers. It works by blocking calcium from entering the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessel walls. This causes the blood vessels to relax and widen, lowering blood pressure and allowing blood to flow more easily to the heart. Unlike some other blood pressure medicines, amlodipine works gradually and gently over 24 hours — so one tablet a day provides consistent, all-day coverage.
